Although the process of aging is inevitable, we can still combat it through various means, such as a scientifically balanced diet. Utilizing the nutrients we consume to improve our internal health and outward appearance is the most effective approach to slowing the aging process. Therefore, in order to delay aging, it is important for our friends to prioritize proper nutrition and consciously consume foods with anti-oxidant and anti-aging properties, such as fresh fruits.
Fresh fruits contain abundant carotenoids, vitamin C, and vitamin E. Carotenoids are star nutrients with anti-aging effects, preserving the health of the outer tissues of the body's organs and tissues; whereas vitamin C and vitamin E can slow the aging caused by cellular oxidation. In addition, fruits generally contain dietary fiber, which promotes gastrointestinal motility and waste elimination, preventing constipation. Therefore, consuming fruits in moderation is beneficial for maintaining the health of our bodies and preventing aging.
However, it is important to note that eating fruits in "moderation" is crucial. Due to the various claims on the internet about fruits aiding in weight loss and beauty, some friends wholeheartedly believe it and excessively consume fruits, even replacing meals with them. Little do they know that this will lead to another misconception, as consuming too much fruit can accelerate the aging process.
Undoubtedly, not eating fruit is a major loss for the human
body, but adhering to a "fruit-only" diet and even replacing meals
with fruit can also lead to trouble.
Firstly, if one were to solely consume fruit and reduce intake of other foods, there may be a deficiency in protein and essential fatty acids. Such individuals often experience frequent hunger pangs and are inclined to consume more food, ultimately leading to weight gain. Furthermore, prolonged consumption of such a diet can result in deficiencies of essential fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins, with severe cases leading to unsightly skin conditions such as dermatitis.
Secondly, as all fruits contain sugar, excessive consumption of fruit will result in a significant intake of sugar. If one consumes an excessive amount of fructose from fruits, it may accelerate the aging process.
Thirdly, prolonged excessive consumption of fruit will result in an unbalanced intake of nutrients such as protein, carbohydrates, and fats, which may lead to a weakened immune system, memory loss, anemia, and digestive problems.
For the average adult, it is recommended to consume between
200g to 350g of fresh fruit per day. For those with high blood sugar levels,
daily fruit intake should not exceed 200g within the permitted limits. It is
also advisable to consume a variety of fruits and to avoid long-term
consumption of a particular type of fruit. Additionally, fruit juice should not
be substituted for whole fruits and should be consumed sparingly.
